Warrings’ restaurant liability insurance provides protection for the staff and customers of your restaurant business
Employer's Liability
It is a statutory requirement under The Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 that businesses have at least a minimum level of cover under employers liability insurance to pay the costs of compensation and the legal fees of employees who have been injured or fallen ill through the negligence of their employer.Restaurant chefs and kitchen staff are exposed daily to the risks of burns from ovens, stoves, rings, fat fryers and utensils containing boiling food or water. Electrical equipment such as fridges and mixers are also in regular use and could cause injury from electrical shock. Use of sharp knives, sharp utensils and chopping equipment add further risks. Failure to adopt or follow accepted practices when operating or handling kitchen equipment could result in an injury to an employee deemed the fault of the employer.
Warrings’ restaurant liability insurance covers legal liability for injury to employees up to £10,000,000. It also covers legal costs up to £250,000 for defending criminal proceedings brought for a breach of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
Public Liability
Public liability insurance covers legal liability up to £2,000,000 for injury to the general public and/or damage to their property arising from an accident caused by you or your employees in the conduct of your restaurant business.
For example, a customer may hurt themselves in the restaurant slipping on a wet or greasy floor caused by spilt food, cut their lip on a chipped wine glass, or heavens forbid, suffer food poisoning. The public have become very alert to claiming for injuries, fuelled by the no-win, no-fee advertising of claims companies.
