Restaurant insurance news - London restaurants destroyed by fire

26 March 2010

It is likely that the owner of an exclusive restaurant in Soho, London will soon be making a restaurant insurance claim for a fire that ripped through the restaurant causing extensive damage.

It is understood that the fire started at nearby office block before spreading to the restaurant and an elite nightclub.

A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade said that the restaurant had "been badly damaged, up to the top floor of the office building above."

"This is one of the largest types of fire we deal with – we only have three or four like this a year."

The restaurant's owner made no public comment about the fire and any impending restaurant insurance claim for property damage and business interruption.

However, the owner of the affected nightclub, which also had its restaurant destroyed in the fire, hinted that any restaurant insurance claim he makes will be for considerable damage. "We are still trying to make sense of what happened. The damage looks pretty bad," he said.
